Hopefully someone can assist or at least point me in the right direction...

I have a site where I want to register users with different profile types.
- First step is to have them choose the profile type
- some types require administrative approval, some don't
- different profile type needs to add users to different group(s)
- different profile types need to have different multi-page registration forms
Can anyone point to some core CD field/form functions that can achieve this and/or suggest any additional extension or plugin to do this?
Create a CB field for the user to select what type of profile they want. Next using CB Conditional you'll show/hide various tabs/fields based off what they selected. To get you started with CB Conditional please review the below tutorial.
Now you'll need to use CB Auto Actions to give your users different usergroups based off the profile type they selected. We've a tutorial for this exact use case below.
CB does not have multi-page registrations, but you can have Step by Step registration using CB Conditional. Please see the below tutorial on how to use Step by Step.
