when we use the forgot login function on our site (new.sasmoa.com), the result returned comes back blank when I would expect it come back with a message like it does on the Joomlapolis site (ie, Your password has been reset and an email has been sent to you).

I have the debug console turned on, but without really knowing what or if any error I'm looking for, it's hard to know if the console is bringing up an error.
Maybe I didn't explain myself properly, I don't get a blank page, but I don't see any message such as "Your password has been reset, please check your email", or something along those lines.
The done page is the correct location. That means the forgot login request was successful or a mailer error happened. You aren't seeing the success or mailer error message, because your Joomla template is missing the ever important message tag. Switch to default Joomla template and retry. You should see the message then. If all ok then contact your template developer and have them put in the missing message tag, which is as follows.

Thank you so much, such a simple little thing, but that was all the problem was. Somewhere along the line the <jdoc:include type="message" /> had been removed from the new template.
