Tools - Regenerate avatar thumbnail and full image

11 years 1 month ago - 11 years 1 month ago #233490 by pepperstreet
Hello, I am missing a Tool ;-)

AFAIK, there is no automatic re-creation of thumbnails and full avatar images. I think, this is an important action, if you have to adjust and change the global settings. Currently, that means downloading all images... and batch resize both versions with an image editor and re-upload everything. Any chance to have a such a function in CB tools area?

Probably not. Depending on how many users you have that would kill 99% of CB sites servers. It'd be impossible on shared hosting for example. Processing images through GD is silly slow and intense so doing it mass scale just isn't an option for most. It maybe something we can add later in CB 2.0 once we've a batch processing API in place so it could possibly be done in batches of XYZ users, but that's probably slower than just using a batch script in GIMP to resize them all in a couple of seconds.
