You can use the CB Query Field to pull whatever data you like from its database table. It uses the total for the simple purpose of calculating total rating. To have 1 star I believe you can set "Number of Units:" to "1" for that.

You mentioned a new core Rating/Points field. Does it already store or update the total numbers in a specific location? Or do I still have to query this information?
The new core fields will use a new database table to store their information.

Yes, it currently stores ratings in _comprofiler_ratingfield_log.

You have to query this information. New rating field that'll be in CB 1.10.0 will probably have an option to display the total ratings.
