All

AT LAST!! After struggling for months to upgrade from Joomla 1.5 to 3.1 as well as CB and CB Subs, I stumbled on this new component in the extensions store called "migrateme" . I installed it and it took me exactly 20 minutes to have my Joomla 3.1 site up and running - perfect, no hassles and ALL CB, UddeIM, and about 12 other components are working as if I never upgraded!

Well done to the makers of this component!

Cheers

Cliff

For those are interested, this was my exact procedure: (I';m not saying it should be the same for you, but this worked for me. I found so many people on the new struggling with this that I thought I should post it here)
  1. Make sure your J1.5 site is on the latest version of CB/CB Subs
  2. Make a list of all installed components, modules and plugins
  3. Make a backup (SQL Export)of your J1.5 SQL database, ensuring that you save structure and data, but do not choose "CREATE table options"
  4. Create a local backup of all media, images, user files etc. that you want to transfer to the new site
  5. Download and install Joomla 3.1 latest stable version to your new site (or a temporary site as I did)
  6. Find and download Joomla 3 version of all the components, modules and plugins (also template if you intend using the same one - I did not) installed on your J1.5 site (in two cases I had to find new ones as there were no further development on those two), and install them in your Joomla 3 site
  7. Log in to Joomlapolis and create a package download for all the CB components that you use and then install this on your Joomla 3.1 virgin site
  8. Transfer all local images/media/userfiles etc to the new site via ftp (i guess as I did)
  9. Now purchase and install the "migrateme" component and then commence the migration process from the components menu in Joomla 3
  10. This takes about 20 minutes depending on the size of you old site, the longest time was taken by jom_content
  11. If you are using Uddeim - copy the \administrator\components\com_uddeim\config.class.php file to the same position on the new server OR in the Uddeim configuration under the "maintenance" tab, choose RESTORE under configuration

That's it! Honest - my site is up and running and looking fabuous! All my historical user data, Aymailing, JComments (etc..) and Uddeim mesaging is in tact and working like a dream.

Hope this helps
