I am trying to check two different conditions when a user enters login in details in the login module. I am using Auto Actions to redirect.

Case1 checks if the user has activated their account.

onduringLogin / registered users / confirmed not equal to 1

Case2 checks if there is a user at all

onLoginAuthentication / all users / [var5]is empty

(I *think* this is the correct parameter to check ($foundUser)

And the problem - both work on their own but if 2 is active it overides 1

There is a fault in my logic or choice of triggers so any help appreciated.

onLoginAuthentication will always fire during the login process. It occurs before onDuringLogin. So if you condition on onLoginAuthentication is false then onDuringLogin may still fire, because if no user is found it trys to find one by username, then by email, then by Joomla authentication plugins depending on what login mode is used.

If you need to condition that a login attempt failed you should use the onBeforeLoginFormDisplay trigger and check if var2 is not empty (variable contains the login error message).
