Multilingual fields titles was created by aalisg
Hello,

I am actually translating a french web site into english in order to make it bilingual.

I use Joomla 3.1.4 and Community Builder 1.9 and I would like to know where to translate Community Builder fields titles (front-end view).

I explain : if I have a french field title which is "Secteur d'activité" (Business sector) I would like to know where sould I translate it to "Business sector" in order to be front-end displayed when a user chooses english language.

Regards

Change the title to a language string like _UE_BUSINESS_TITLE then have a French and English language plugin to translate it to the respective language. Example as follows.

English:
define( '_UE_BUSINESS_TITLE', 'Business sector' );

French:
define( '_UE_BUSINESS_TITLE', 'Secteur d'activité' );

Please see your CB documentation available for download in the Advanced downloads section for further language usage information. Please also review the below information.

A quick related question:
How do i keep my custom strings save? I mean, on CB and plugin updates. Are they overriden by the original files?

You create your own language plugin. Don't edit the Default language plugin. We provide the English language plugin below, which you can safely edit without losing anything unless you install it again.

What do you mean by a french and an english plugin ?

You need to have a CB language plugin for each language you want to support. It will then load in the relevant CB language plugin based off the language Joomla is using. This information is detailed in the resources I've provided in my previous replies (see your documentation and the URL provided).

I mean how do I create one ?

No, someone has already created a CB 1.9 French language plugin.

Do I have to import all my used languages CB language strings ?

If you edited the Default language files then you need to add your modified language strings to the above french language plugin or create a new french language plugn for them. Do not edit the Default language files or you will lose all your changes everytime you install CB.

How do I name it ?

This is detailed in the resources I've already provided for you. Please see your documentation as well as the link provided in my previous replies.
