I am looking to setup some custom ratings for student profiles which will allow their tutors to rate their skills in a given area. This would require for the rating to simply display what was input by the tutor and update if the tutor decides to raise/lower their rating rather than using the average rating which is setup by default.
Is there an easy way that I could go about setting up these custom rating fields? I figure I could set this up using a tab that would be conditional to only be seen by the tutor. The tough part might be getting the rating fields to only display the most recent rating from the tutor.
The rating plugin provides two field types. "Stars - Your Rating" and "Stars - My Rating". "Stars - Your Rating" allows everyone except the profile owner to rate the user. "Stars - My Rating" allows only the profile owner to rate themselves. You could use a "Stars - Your Rating" field then maybe show/hide it with CB Conditional.
Next release of CB has rating field built in with custom access controls as well as view access level controls. So it'd be easy to do what you're wanting in next CB release, but for now "Stars - Your Rating" with CB Conditional is probably the best solution.
