[SOLVED] Users cannot log in after moving site from 1.5 to 2.5.14/CB 1.9

Hello,
I apologize if this is a repeat question. I did try to find an answer in all of the other areas before posting this.

We have just upgraded our site using jupgrade from a 1.5 site to J2.5.14 and CB 1.9 with a new template. We added CB Anti-spam to try to cut down on the number of spammers trying to register. We only use the email domain blocked list and made sure we didn't add "hotmail", "gmail" or any of the other major domains to the list.
The upgrade appears to be working fine except for some users who are now getting the following message.
Your login has been blocked. Reason: Your domain has been identified as a blocked domain.

This message appears when a user tries to log in to their account. We don't have any extra add-ons like subscriptions, it's just a basic list of users.

My admin log in had the issue so I went to the back end and changed the password. I was then able to log in in the front end. But other users who we've tried this for still can't get logged on.

Could anyone give me a direction to look into? I'm not a programmer but I can follow instructions.
Thanks,
Kathy Ahrendt

The domain blocking is a literal match. It splits the email at @ then compares the second half to whatever you supplied as domains in your database.

So for example if I have bob@example.com and I blocked example.com then the user won't be able to login. Check your domain blocks against the users email addresses and ensure you're not blocking their domain.

They may have also been blocked by mistake if you were making changes while users were trying to login. In those cases just unblock them manually from within CB AntiSpam.

Thanks for pointing me in a direction. I'll go through the list and see if some of the email domains I know about are on it.

I looked through the blocked list and didn't find gmail, hotmail listed in the email domain blocked list. But I did find an aol specific email listed in blocked.
I removed that one and have asked the user to try to log in.

As an experiment I put gmail in the whitelist and am now able to log in with a user account that failed before adding it to that list.
I'll continue to monitor the unapproved lists to see if any of the spammers are getting in. We've had hundreds of attempts on our old 1.5 site that were using the gmail, hotmail and outlook domains. I haven't gotten any spammer emails since our move so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that with this plugin we don't. Thanks for the plugin!

Be sure to also use CB AntiSpams captcha feature as it'll help eliminate a lot of spam as well. As it's a field now you can comfortable move it to any tab you like so it fits in with your registration layout needs.

I have my registration set to ask the "question" in captcha. So far it's worked very well. I think the stray registration attempts may have been moved when we captured the old user database and put it into the new 2.5 site.
Thanks,
Kathy
