Hi,
since update on Joomla 2.5.16 i have experiencing problems with the userl login process. After a user has requested a new password or tries to change anything in his profile his username is not accepted anymore. My tries to change the username always opens a dialog box that tells me hoe a username has to be structured. The usernames do always fit these rules except that the should not contain blancs. As they are generated while login form the forname/name field the do have blancs and worked always well.
So all usernames follow the structure forname "blanc" name. After requesting a new password this structure is not accepted anymore :-(

If you need more input to help me please contact me.

thanks in advance
carsten

Please be sure to search before posting. This has already been addressed. Joomla doesn't allow spaces in Usernames anymore. This means you need to enable the Username field again and allow username edits so they can supply a new username (this affects Joomla profile edit too, not just CB profile edit). CB 1.10 will workaround the issue.

Hm,
but the problem is that the Username is automaticaly taken from the forname/name field so the users do not have a username field in the registration form. is it possible for the username field to remove the space automaticaly even the forname/name field is filled with a space inbetween?

users should not change their names to any string. so enabling a change by the user will open the chance to change the username to anything. so i´m highly interested in a solution that keeps the nameing structure. any idea ?
thanks

yep,

As it is a joomla problem to solve temporarily the problem-, you have to change the user.php file

here the post www.joomlapolis.com/forum/147-potential-bug/223392-after-update-to-cb-191g-error-with-space-in-username#237281

It's a Joomla issue. There's nothing I can do about it. We didn't even know it was implemented until it was too late. There's talk of the change being reverted, but I've no idea if they actually intend to. Spaces however should not be in usernames and next CB release will ensure any generated usernames contain no spaces (it will replace spaces with _ as well as strip any invalid characters), but that will only help new usernames; existing would be unaffected.

The below is a proposed commit to fix the issue.

github.com/Radek-Suski/joomla-cms/commit/773e85646f56d9ca19fd50138afcdb046c5b54f7

The bug was introduced by the below commit, which you could just try reverting if you wanted.
