I can't seem to figure this one out. I have an Administrator ACL in which I have assigned a handful of people to administer the site. For some reason they cannot edit or create user profiles in the backend of CB that isn't another Administrator. They can however if they go the Joomla user management page. I want them to be able to create general registration accounts for our customers.

I have the Administrators assigned as Moderators in CB settings and "Allow Moderators to Edit User Profiles set to CM Moderators and above.

Is this even possible? Can I allow another User Group to create profiles like a Super Admin can?

J3.2/CB 1.9.1

Navigate to CB > User Management > Options then click "Permissions" and ensure permissions are set correctly for your administrator. Administrators, if left everything at default, shouldn't have any issues editing users from backend though. Things become complicated if you've changed the Administrators permissions or moved their usergroup around in Joomlas usergroup manager.

Ok. I started to realize that that maybe the issue.

My ACL is set up like this

Public
|-Admins
|-Customers
|-Super Administrator

Do I need to put the customers as a child of Admins like this:

Public
|-Admins
|-|-Customers
|-Super Administrator

Thanks in advance!

You altered the default ACL? CB in this case is not going to behave well. Never remove the default ACL. Simply don't use it if you don't need it. You've broken ACL relationships and default Joomla permissions doing that. Your ACL should be as follows.

Public
- Manager
- - Administrator
- Registered
- - Author
- - - Editor
- - - - Publisher
- - Customers (add new usergroup parented to Registered)
- Super Users

Ok. Understood. I was taught back in 1.6 that if I was going to do very custom ACL (I have a lot more groups then I shared) to remove whats there. New lesson learned ;)

So I can simply rebuild the structure manually back to the way Joomla had it I presume. No penalty for ID#s of the groups changing.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure rebuilding it will work. The core ACL IDs are now lost, which means their default permissions are also lost, which in the end means you have to setup permissions everywhere 1 by 1 for your new groups. You typically want to add to the existing so inherited permission can take place. The below are the defaults IDs. I suppose you could rebuild manually then change the IDs manually in database.

Public = 1
Registered = 2
Author = 3
Editor = 4
Publisher = 5
Manager = 6
Administrator = 7
Super Users = 8

I've no idea if deleting a usergroup causes their permissions to delete though. Hopefully permissions are kept so it'll be pretty seamless adding the default usergroups back in.
