Add the HTML directly to the menu item title (e.g. before _UE_ADDCONNECTIONREQUEST). That might mess with translation of it though. Never tried this so not sure if that'll even work. Aside from that you may not be able to. Also CB does not have fontawesome until CB 2.0, which is namespaced to "cbicon cbicon-cog" as the usage. So unless you're loading it externally that's not going to do anything.
