I need your "plug_cbpackagebuilder" for a international charity website I have worked on since I was Joe's and Trail's, second seat tester WAY BACK. Ask Beat.
Any chance to get a copy? It would be the perfect answer to a solution I am looking for.
Package Builder is designed to be redistributed, but we have yet to decide if we're going to. At this time it can't as it has been upgraded for CB 2.0, which is not stable release and widely available yet. If we do choose to release it to the public it will very likely be a Developer subscriber plugin.
It's designed to build custom Joomla installer packages though. It isn't intended to be a general download manager. For a general download manager I suggest using Docman. So with that said it doesn't serve much purpose unless you're distributing Joomla extensions. It can do non-Joomla files via "Document" type or the "Individual Download" feature, but that's not its main usage.

DOCMAN has lost some of it's past features. As nice as it 2.0 now looks, DOCMAN does not offer "combine and download". jDownloads (a free component) does this and is great for customization.
