CBSubs and CBConnect was created by AlexRag
If I want to use CBConnect to allow users to login using social network credentials, is it still possible to integrate it with CBSubs for paid member access? Signups are only available for paid members (no free plans).

Though they can easily signup using the plugin, how the the fee collection/registration process work?

I'm not sure how it would work if I also need to collect other info like phone numbers, addresses, since typically none of this info is on social network profiles.

I also need to restrict registration to specific streets in a community, but I have a feeling I would have to manually reject registrations if potential signups are not permitted to join. This restriction is easily handled as the registration form has a dropdown for addresses.

Thanks.

CB Connect bypasses normal registration. You'll likely run into validation issues when the registration trigger fires in your scenario, but you can give it a try. Next release of CB Connect is planned to have an option to pre-fill the registration form instead of bypassing registration entirely as social sites policies have changed regarding this and it's now allowed.

Really for a site that's paid access only CB Connect just has no business being there. It's like "Join now with Facebook! Now give me money!". That could look bad on Facebook (as well as your self) and there could be an issue with it in their terms of use.

Cb Connect offers convenience. Most feedback I'm getting from current users has to do with them forgetting their username and password. They would like sign in/up using their social network credentials to make it easier.

I disagree about CB Connect's purpose. I've seen plenty of paid sites that offer easy login using fb, g+, twitter, etc.

If there was some way to allow the social connect and upon login take them to a registration area to complete the custom fields and then process the payment - that would be useful.

Thanks for the reply!

Can you provide some examples?

I would like to see the workflow.

Sure. udemy.com, constantcontact.com, scribd.com. Hopefully they'll offer insight.

I was thinking maybe if there's a free entry into a member site that redirects them to a registration page where they can upgrade to a paid plan.

If there was some way to allow the social connect and upon login take them to a registration area to complete the custom fields and then process the payment - that would be useful.

That's exactly what's planned for next release. The idea is it'd grab their social data, send to registration as a post, populate the fields with said data, and they'd complete registration normally. After registration it'd take their store social site ID from their session then push it to the respective social site field. They can now login via the social site and are registered as normally. The idea is for it to behave as it does and also optionally behave as described.

Aside from the above I can't see how it'd be able to interact with CBSubs correctly except CB Connect having to have code specifically in it to work with CBSubs and I can't see a good reason to do that as it'd be a lot of bloat which many users would never user as not every user is a CBSubs user. You maybe able to populate the social site user object on the before registration trigger with the needed CBSubs POST data and that may work, but I can't say for sure as I've never tried it.
