Upgrading from 1.9 to 2.0 was created by mba90008
Hi...I'm new to cb and web developing so this might be a dumb question....and I apologize in advance. But I wanted to know how upgrading(migrating) to cb 2.0 will impact a site already using 1.9 .... I just started building my site not to long ago...so would I have to start my site from scratch in order to upgrade to 2.0?

The reason I'm asking is because, like I mentioned, I've been building a site with 1.9 and I want to make sure all the work and configurations that I've done won't be lost if I change to 2.0 when it is released.

Thanks in advance.

Upgrading to CB 2.0 will be the same as upgrading from any CB version. However, you'll have compatibility issues to be concerned with. We provide zero guarantee that any non-CB 2.0 plugin will function. This means you may have plugins that stop working. CB will inform you when a plugin is compatible and if it's a Joomlapolis plugin it will let you know when a new version is available. We'll be upgrading all our active products for CB 2.0 after release of stable though.

In short there is no guarantee your upgrade will be problem free. We've made well over thousand and thousands of lines of code changes. It's recommended that you clone your site, install CB 2.0, then test for any issues before pushing to your live site.

Thanks for the reply....but what about cb profilepro? That seems to be a very popular plugin for profile configuration. Will the code changes for cb 2.0 impact that plugin? That's pretty much the only critical non-cb plugin I'm using on 1.9.

Thanks in advance!

All plugins that are not upgraded to CB 2.0 will be incompatible. They will be clearly marked as incompatible in CB > Plugin Management. They may still work, but there's no guarantee. We're not the developers of CB ProfilePro so I can't really advise you on that matter; that's some the developer of CB ProfilePro will need to address with their next release.

Also CB normally allows you to install plugins less than its CB version. For example you could install a 1.x plugin on CB 1.9. This is not the case for major versions (e.g. 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, etc..). This means all 1.x plugins will not install on CB 2.0 until they have been upgraded
