How can a subscriber buy a single use gift certificate that can be used to pay for another new subscriber's subscription

Given that "the power of CBSubs allows you to support almost any imaginable subscription scenario, simple or complex.", I can not find any use case scenario anywhere on the web that seems to support the classic case of a member/subscriber being able to buy a membership for someone else.

Ideally, the member would sign in and purchase the gift certificate/promotion for $x and give the code to the person that they want to gift a membership/subscription to. That person would register in the normal way but when they enter the code the subscription cost would drop to $0 and no payment processing would be required or even presented to the new subscriber. I can entertain alternate approaches as long as there is no manual intervention needed at the back end to effect the new subscription.

I have spent hours reading the CBSubs 3.0 manual and playing with various CBSubs settings but just can't fathom how it can be done. None of the use cases in the CBSubs manual seems to cover this nor can I find anyone else in these fora asking for it and discovering that it can't be done. So I'm hopeful that the "best subscriptions membership management solution available" is indeed capable of this basic functionality.

Only way to really do that is to use CBSubs SQL Actions and generate coupons using a database query for CBSubs Promotions. That kind of falls in line with the "family subscription" feature everyone has been requesting. Nick is working on various tutorials and I believe this usage will probably be covered. I've replied to the below topic regarding generating coupons.
