I was receiving emails and suddenly found that no emails are being sent. It doesn't work on php or on SMTP and I have checked the configurations but still nothing is coming - no new registrations, etc.
Is there something I have missed here?

Do emails send from Joomla? Try using Joomlas mass mailer to send an email to Super Users and see if you receive anything.

I've no idea. You'll have to contact your host for the SMTP settings so you can properly configure Joomla. Usually you don't need to do any of this and can leave Joomla to use PHP Mailer.
