Plugins component pages can have any number of necessary or optional variables. There's no way of knowing how the menu item is built. There's only 2 variables that are absolute. So with that said I should be able to make a menutype that at least considers those two variables. Handling the other variables the plugin component page may need is where the problem comes from. Now that we use proper Joomla XML view files it may not be so difficult to do now. I won't know until I attempt to implement it later (I've already created a CB 2.0 feature ticket for it).
