confirmation and registration emails ?

When a user does a registration, the emails for confirmation and (after this) confirmation are sent correctly. I wonder if it is possible for an admin to add a registered user in backend without these emails being sent? for example by saving this new user profile for the first time with "confirmation checked" ?

Create the user with a dummy email address then edit them and change their email address to a valid email. For example you could use temporary@cb.invalid for the initial registration and as it's a dummy email address no emails will be sent to it. You could also register them as Blocked then enable their profile after saving and I think that'll stop the emails from bothering to send too.
