I am having trouble getting the CB Subs emails to trigger. I have the CBSubs Email Integration plugin installed and published. I have loaded several test messages in text format with all the required settings from the documentation.

The presentation tab emails have limit configuration. For example they always send to the user subscribing. The CBSubs Email integration has more control in this regard as you can specify a custom To address to send emails to, etc.. which you use is entirely up to your needs. If you don't need the inputs that CBSubs Emails provides then just use the emails on the Presentation tab of your plans.
