Registration with incorrect email address creates user

Hi Guys

I just tried registering a test user on a test site, by mistake I mistyped the TLD in the mail address.
I got an error 'incorrect mail address', and then when I tried to type it again, I was told that the user already existed, and looking in the backend, indeed it does, with the wrong email address?
This is J2.5.19 and CB1.9.1, login module is CB login 1.9.1

Check within _comprofiler table and see if they actually exist in CB. It's possible something caused the Joomla user to store (3rd party User plugins tend to do this).

The user is in the users table and the corresponding id is in the comprofiler table.

Strange, registration shouldn't have been able to complete. Does this happen for the email confirmation field or the email field it self? Please also provide the entire error message so I can search through Joomla/CB to find where it's coming from.
