I have three plans:
1. Paid subscription 1 year
2. Free subscription 1 year
3. Free lifetime subscription
Only the paid subscription is presented at registration and users cannot upgrade to either of the free plans - this must be done from the back-end.
If I try to register a new user from the back-end on either of the free plans I get this error message
Chosen plans combination is not allowed (you must choose coherent plans selection, e.g. parent subscriptions to a plan must be active).
and when I click OK am presented only with the Paid Subscription or None. If I choose None I can then change the user's subscription to the correct plan via the back-end.
All the plans are top level (no child plans) and all are set to Exclusive.
Ensure free lifetime plans are set to create subscriptions within CBSubs > Settings > Global. This shouldn't happen for the 1 year free plan or paid plan though.

Create Subscriptions also for free lifetime plans: is set to Yes and subscriptins are created if I choose "None" as the type of subscription.
I can register a new Paid Subscription user from the back-end without problems. The 1-year free subscription is identical to the Paid Subscription except that a) it is free b) it's not presented at user registration and c) it's not presented to the user as an upgrade option.
Bit of a puzzler and I think I must have misunderstood something.
Please PM backend super administrator login credentials and will take a look.

Have reviewed your install and this is due to "Propose spontaneously plan at registration:" within your plans on the Workflows tab being set to "No". Since you're already limiting the plan to backend access you can safely set this to "Yes". You also should do the same to always allow upgrades.
