Support on one.com says:
It seem like the JoomlaCK component "jcktypography" requires CURL function on different port, or it will work in port 80 too?
It sys this plugin requires CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION  function to run!
They don't provide "curl" on their servers, so what to do?
Can I not use this editor on CB, or?

There are many Joomla extensions that need curl enabled.
If your hosting does not support this and the extension has no work-around, then you cannot use it.

Also, it looks like Joomla needs this also to handle its upgrade notification process.

I suggest posting on the Joomla forums for the Joomla issue to see if they have a work-around or not.

I have posted this on The Joomla Forum/ support, but got no reply yet! Is there anyone her that can give me some kind of solution for this that I can give to my hosting?

Hi, I have a new site with Joomla 3.2 + CB 1.9 and I have problems with plugins, especially with JCK Editor and a file called:
"jcktypography" makes the front-end crash!

Support on one.com says:
It seems like the JoomlaCK component "jcktypography" requires CURL function on different port, or will it work in port 80 too?
It says this plugin requires CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION function to run!

"Nant" on CB support says:

So how can I deal with this and will Joomla 3.3 make any difference? :o
Regards, Shedor

Give them the error message and they should be able to solve it from there as it's a server configuration issue. This is not something we or anyone else except your host can resolve.

You need to contact the developers of JCK Editor. We did not develop that extension so we've no way of providing support for it. I recommend using JCE Editor though.

It says this plugin requires CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION function to run!

That usually means your site is running with safe_mode enabled or open_basedir is set to be to strict.

Also, it looks like Joomla needs this also to handle its upgrade notification process.

Yes, Joomla makes a CURL call to its update servers to see if an update is available. CURL is widely used in multiple extensions and Joomla it self.

If your host is unwilling to help regarding your issue I highly recommend changing hosts.

This is a cut out of my communication with my host provider - one.com:

In joomla control panel it says: Unknown Joomla!... Unknown extensions...
you: Earlier when plugins where crashing a support with you said that you did not support "curl"! I'm really having a problem with this as users can not long in and I have had a lot of downtime!
you: You mean, register you on dharmadata?
Varsha: The function CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION is not supported on our servers
you: Is there any way around this, support in Joomla says is very strange if you don't!?
you: This is the message;
Varsha: No, there is no way around
you: Warning: curl_setopt(): CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when safe_mode is enabled or an open_basedir is set in /customers/e/8/c/dharmadata.org/httpd.www/plugins/authentication/gmail/gmail.php on line 84 Incorrect username or password. Please try again.
you: So, then you don't support Joomla 3.2, or?
Varsha: We support this version of Joomla but the function CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION is not supported
Varsha: You will not be able to use the plugin authentication
you: my PHP only goes to line 69 - public $asset -id, I don't see line 84 !

My registered users can not long in and I'm on the point of giving up because I don't have the knowledge to solve this and the different support, just talk around each other! :-/
