Can anyone point me in the right direction on user groups and how to set them up? there is a user group in joomla,cb,groupjive, and kunena

where do u set up the hierarchy in joomla?

changing hierarchy in joomla makes everything crash.

Usergroup protection does nothing for GroupJive forum categories. GJ controls access to its forum categories exclusively. Meaning if the user isn't a member of that group then they can't see that groups forums.

Regarding usergroup usage I suggest reading Joomlas documentation found below.

Chiming in here to say that a GroupJive group has nothing to do with Joomla ACL groups.

A groupjive group is something that any frontend user can create on your Groupive pages.

Kunena has the ability to protect access to its forum functionality based on Joomla groups but it also has a built-in integration with GroupJive in order to be able to provide private for groupjive group member only forum discussions.

1.could it be possible with all the experimenting that i have broken a few user group links to cb from joomla?

administrator and manager setting are not showing in the access level in joomla/extensions/module of the CB module, ex. cbworkflows and i cant see workflows in front end
thank you for this

i would like to add that the main menu did not appear in kunena until i did the above procedure.

Possibly. The biggest issue users have is tampering with the defaults instead of just adding new usergroups and view access levels to the default. Messing with the defaults often results in extensions being broken as many are expecting certain IDs, which no longer exist. However, if you're referring to access being missing in GJs forum categories then that's intentional. You do not configure the access for GJ forums as GJ forums access is entirely controlled by GJ.

administrator and manager setting are not showing in the access level in joomla/extensions/module of the CB module, ex. cbworkflows and i cant see workflows in front end

Modules and most extensions use View Access Levels and not Usergroups. So you should see "Public", "Registered", and "Special". You can add new view access levels within Users > Access Levels.
