CB field type file was created by iytworldwide
Hi Kyle,

On registration page I am using "image" field type. I would like to change it to "file" type so that I can upload any document but it seem there is no way to edit the field type to "file" and only way is to remove the field and then add the field as "file" type with same name. Please guide me.

Warm Regards,
Amit Dangwal

You can't change a fields type in CB 1.x. It has no implementation for it. Fields type can be changed in CB 2.0 though. In CB 1.x the only way to change it is to alter the your database tables, but I don't recommend that. I suggest simply creating a new field.

I have a similar problem, but I have about 60 fields where I need to change the field type, so I´d very, very much appreciate a hint at how to change the field type in the database itself.

You need to edit _comprofiler_fields to change a fields type. There will be a type column that needs to be adjusted. Once done run CB > Tools so CB can correct the other database tables to match the fields new type.
