Some of my fields are editor textareas.
Firebug tells me that the textarea part itself is 550px high,
but I don't find the code where this value is set
- I would like to have it MUCH smaller...
Adjust Cols and Rows while editing the field in CB > Field Management. If both are empty or 0 it'll use the fallback size of 600x350 or whatever the editor it self specifies its own size should be.

Your explanation sounds great, and it would be great if it worked...
Unfortunately both FF and Opera ignore whatever I enter for Cols and Rows.
Looking at the code Opera shows
<textarea id="cb_xxx" name="cb_xxx" cols="10" rows="5" style="width: 600px; height: 350px; display: none;" class="wfEditor mce_editable source" wrap="off" aria-hidden="true"><p>this is text</p></textarea>
- using the fallbacksize while there ARE values for cols and rows,
and the Firebug shows the same:
<textarea id="cb_xxx" class="mce_editable" style="width: 600px; height: 350px; display: none;" rows="5" cols="10" name="cb_xxx" aria-hidden="true">
with an iframe around it with the height of 550px.
BTW - this iframe is nowhere to be seen in Opera's code.
For the editor it self you typically specify those sizes within Extensions > Plug-in Manager > Your Editor (e.g. Editor - TinyMCE).
