You need to use standard strtotime format. Example as follows.
strtotime(+1 DAY,TIMESTAMP)
The TIMESTAMP needs to be an actual PHP timestamp or it won't work. So this could cause issues with dates stored as formatted. Next release there are plans to allow format functions inside of formation functions so you could do the following.
strtotime(+1 DAY,strtotime(DATE))
