Hi,

We are developing a site for a membership organisation, using Community Builder to handle interactions between members, and Sobi so that each member can create publicly available business listings.

We want to allow the members to pay for annual subscriptions online, and the business listings (as well as access to members areas) get disabled if the subscription expires.

My question is how should we handle annual subscription renewals for members? Should we be looking an add-on for CB (Subs??) or for Sobi?

Thanks

CBSubs can certainly provide the subscriptions, payment, and renewal process. As far as what it can protect in Sobi it entirely depends on what Sobi has available for CBSubs to control. At the very least you can use By URL Part protection to protect the members area of Sobi via its URL as well as protect the URL for creating a new listing, etc..

Hi Krileon,

Thanks for your reply.

Would it then be possible to combine CB Subs with CB Auto Actions to trigger an SQL script (which could update records in the Sobi database) on a lapsed subscription for example?

You don't need to combine it with CB Auto Actions as CBSubs has a CBSubs SQL Actions plugin included with it to execute database queries on various subscription states.

Ok, this seems like my best route to explore then.

Is the format for updating Sobi still the same as shown your post? - www.joomlapolis.com/forum/90-sql-actions/95084-sql-plugin-in-action

And are there other triggers I can use such as subscription lapsing for example? Is there any documentation which covers all of this?

I've no idea, the queries provided were examples. We do not maintain any integration with Sobi2 or queries for it.

CBSubs SQL Actions can trigger queries on subscription Activation, Expiration, Renewal, and Deactivation.

Is there any documentation which covers all of this?

Yes, CBSubs comes with a very extensive documentation.
