More flexability in Auto Action for GJ

More flexability in Auto Action for GJ was created by djdesjardins
What I need to do is assign users automatically to groups just like I can do currently with the addition of being able to select the parent of the group using field substitution. Example: I have a user who lives in Cook county of Illinois. I want to assign them to the Cook County group which is a sub-group of Illinois. Being able to create the parent group on they fly like I can with the group could be useful as well.

Unless I have missed something I believe the only way to currently accomplish this is using an Auto Action Query. Please advise if there is an easier way, thanks.

Enhanced capability??
Was thinking using something like "Dot Notation" would make it very flexible. Ex: Illinois.Cook.Chicago OR [cb_state].[cb_county].[cb_city] OR States.[cb_state].Counties.[cb_county].Municipalities.[cb_city]

Same for category creation...

CB Auto Actions can create a group if it doesn't exist then joins it. If it does exist they just join it. The group name can be whatever you like so yes you could use [cb_state].[cb_county].[cb_city] if you like. You don't need to use a query though as there is a CB GroupJive action included with CB Auto Actions.

What I'm trying to do is join a sub group where the parent group as well as the sub group name are determined from profile parameters.

Example: Determine which group I want by looking at [cb_state] then determining which subgroup by looking at [cb_county]

So I could assign the user to the "Cook County Group" which is a sub group of "Illinois"

I hope this is clearer.

Thanks,

Edit: How about also adding substitution to Leave a group

Please see the CB GroupJive 2.x action within CB Auto Actions for what is available. It can Create, Join, and Leave Groups as well as Create Categories. What you're wanting likely can't be done by the action and is probably better to use a Code action with Method set to PHP and you custom code your needs.
