I am just trying to confirm if the following functionality exists within the CB Connect system, I have had a quick look and it seems unlikely it exists at this time but wanted to be 100% sure.
Can the system be set to update profile information from linkedin in the future, or is it a one time sync when a registration is made using linkedin?
It linking an existing user account meant to update its profile at all from linkedin (based on mapping)?

It's a one time synchronization during registration when registration is made through LinkedIn.

Thank you for the feedback, due to the fact sync is just at registration we will probably not make use of the module however it is possible that we extend this module to "keep up to date" with linkedin.
Yes, it maybe possible to modify it to fit your needs, but I don't recommend it as that begins going against most of the social sites terms of use. They just recently allowed form pre-population with user data, which is planned for next release, but constantly storing up to date info is strictly forbidden unless it has recently changed. The way sites typically do it is like Facebook you'd use Social Fields to pull live data (never stored).
I recommend reviewing LinkedIn usage and privacy policy closely to see if what you're wanting is allowed. If it is I could consider it as a feature for next release (will be checking all of this once I begin working on next release after CB 2.0 goes stable).
