When a new user registers the [username] is set by the system to [name]. We then use a CB Auto Action of type Field to prefix the [username] with [user_id], which gives a username in the format (for example) of '1234Fred Brown'. Is there a way to interpose a space after the [user_id] part of this reformatted user name to give '1234 Fred Brown'?
Add a space after your substitution. You could also use an underscore after the substitution as the space might get trimmed.

I've tried adding a space after [user_id] - sadly, it gets trimmed when the Auto Action is saved.
The lack of a space between the [user_id] and the [name] is not critical. Its presence would make new usernames conform to the previous format and its absence is an irritation, nothing more, to some old hands. Would have been nice to have.
I'm sure an underscore would work but I'd have a riot on my hands at such a drastic change!
When the backend is covered to XML in its next major release the spaces hopefully won't be trimmed anymore to avoid that, but for now it does indeed run trim on the parameters during save.
