Timezone different across CB plugins was created by lylejover
Hi,

We are doing some investigation for an issue about making all date/time stamps across CB and Joomla the same. However, we hit a roadblock for CB Profile Book and CB Activity whom individually gives out a different time.

The fix attempt we did was to sync the servertime and joomla time. It fixed some but not for all. Any thoughts or work around how to handle this? We are using CB 1.9.1

Timezone problem investigation:
ProfileBook - 08/12/2014 10:04:59 MST, displayed as MST, should be 00:04 8/13 | displayed as PHT but wrong date
CB Activity- 08/12/2014 19:53:42 GMT, displayed as GMT, should be 03:53 8/13 | not displayed but chronologically correct
GroupJive - 08/12/2014 16:02:47 GMT, displayed as GMT, should be 00:02 8/13 | fixed with Joomla change
Registration - 08/12/2014 19:53:42 GMT, displayed as GMT, should be 03:53 8/13 | fixed with Joomla change
Kunena - 08/13/2014 00:27:18 PHT, displayed as PHT, should be PHT | fix not needed

Thanks,
Lyle

There's some inconsistencies with API and storage issues. Joomla changes the timezone global. This messes with PHP date functions and causes them to not longer work as UTC. Dates should always store as UTC and become offset on display. This is the case for a few plugins like CB Activity, but many others don't have this feature. With CB 2.0 we've official API for generating proper UTC dates to avoid this. So CB 2.0 and plugins for CB 2.0 should have this issue resolved. For now there's really not much of a fix.
