Different Layout/Functionality Possibilities: User's Profile Modules?

I'm attempting to make a variant of the site DeviantART. Under the profiles page, users can customize their layout with widgets. Users can add things like a featured image, random image pulled from their gallery, a poll, a blog post, friends list, etc.

To similar extent, I'd like to have the ability to have users add their own Joomla/CB modules to their profile pages. These modules would be specific to their content, very similar to the options listed above.

Does there exist any form of plugin to add this kind of functionality?

Not that I'm aware. You'll likely need to develop something to add that. We've plans for "App" type features that are popular on many social sites, but I've no idea when we'll get that implemented for frontend.
