I assume that it is there somewhere but I cannot find it, is there a way for users to email each other. I am rebuilding an existing Joomla! 1.5 website that used CB Mailing, but I do not think that it is any longer suitable for Joomla! 3.

CB has a built in email form. It's enabled by default. You should see a Message menu item on the CB Menu when viewing a users profile and a Send Email sub menu item to go to the email form. The email field it self will also display as a link to this form. If neither are showing it's likely been disabled in CB > Configuration.

The detailed community Builder documentation is in the Advanced download area (that you also have access to).

The main setting you are looking for is in the Configuration -> General tab -> Email Handling parameter. If it is set to Display Link to EMail form then when you visit someones profile you will see a CB Menu Messages -> Send Email.
