Group Jive - Nested Groups

Hi,

I downloaded & installed your CB Quick Start Pro package in a fresh Joomla 3.3.6 installation. The installation went on well - No errors.

I created a category & I created two groups under the same category. I tried to create the 2nd group as nested group to the first one. But I am not able to create the nested groups. I am getting the message as "There are no Groups available" under Parent.

I tried creating nested categories. I am able to choose the parent in the dropdown here. But while saving I am getting the message "Error Not Permitted"

Am I missing something.

From backend or frontend? If frontend, try backend to see if it works there. CB version? Please note if you're using CB 2.0 then GJ has not been upgraded for CB 2.0 compatibility yet. Are your categories and groups published? Are nested categories and groups enabled for your category/group and globally within GJ > Configuration?

I am using your CB Quick Start Pro Package. I figured what is the issue. It is a category conflict with group. I have to choose category & click "Apply" first. This brings down all the groups under that category. and it is working fine. Thanks again for helping me.

I have another suggestion / feature request. Please consider this for your next GroupJive upgrade. It would be great if GroupJive categories and groups are appearing as nested categories like Joomla category view in the back end. This is similar to tree view.

Yup, as it needs to know the category before it can determine the parents available otherwise you could end up with the parent being in a category other than what the group is actually in.

Nesting is actually planned to go away. As are categories. This is planned much later though. The idea is 1 level of usage. The categorizations will be done with a Tagging system. A category view would then be generated from those tags. This would make GJ as a whole a lot easier to configure, significantly improved usability, and performance. (all subject to change of course)
