Modification of CB or our plugins are classified as core modifications. We do not support them. If you modify a plugin we provide, then upgrade said plugin, your modifications are lost. This applies to all of our plugins and CB it self. Any number of our plugins could be deprecated and merged into CBs core so just keep this in mind when choosing to make modifications to them. In this situation CB Bootstrap was upgraded to Bootstrap 3 and merged into CBs core as the new Default.==> who is talking about core modifications? I never do that. I was talking about my regular profile template.
Your styling changes could still be relevant if the selectors you used are Bootstrap 3 compatible or you used CB selectors, but it'd probably be difficult to determine where your changes have been made without doing a diff against an unmodified Bootstrap template. However, when reapplying the changes be careful to place them where they can't be lost. This could be Joomla template CSS files (preferable an override file) or a CB template that uses override.css (we're working on a tutorial to explain how to use this).Of course I do backups, but that has nothing to do with the deleted profile template. As you say yourself the old templates are of no use anymore anyway. I can do 100 backups and 100 tests and 100 reads ... it still would not help. At some point I have to update and loose all my current template setup.
