This SQL gives the same error. Here are my permissions:

User Host Type Privileges Grant Action
root linux global ALL PRIVILEGES Yes Edit Privileges Edit Privileges
root localhost global ALL PRIVILEGES Yes Edit Privileges Edit Privileges

I think the permissions are not the problem.

If it errors directly in phpmyadmin then there's a problem with your MYSQL. You can try editing the _comprofiler table then clicking the Operations tab and seeing if you can change the Engine from there, but I recommend contacting your host.

yes, it throws the same error when using "Operations"

"contacting your host. "
==> :) that would be me ... the site runs on localhost via XAMPP ... could that be the problem? It is the first time ever that I see that error and I run about 20 sites on my localhost for development.

Sorry, I'm not a server specialist. I've no idea what in your configuration could cause this specifically. You could try posting on the XAMPP forums to see if someone could suggest anything. I am also using XAMPP locally and am not having this issue.

It is not a server issue as all other tables in that db can be altered, so there is something wrong with the CB tables, not with the db itself.

I solved it by recreating and reimporting the cb tables. Now the ALTER InnoDB worked and the final check runs trough. All good now.
