[SOLVED] Admin area CB

Hi Kyle,

I am using registration form of CB with conditional fields and Tabs. This works good for profile edit, user registration. Now I want to know what functionality is provided for User Management screen in admin section of CB? I can see all fields, all tabs i.e. no validation, no conditional checks. My concern is if admin makes any change in user data, that will not be in line with business validations set for profile edit and registration screen (for example, user data saved without providing mandatory field value(which can be conditional when some checkbox selected say identification type as passport or driving license)). Can you please guide me on this?

If you want backend validation then enable it within CB > Configuration > User Profile. If you want conditionals to work in backend then enable it within CB Conditional > Config. However, for management sake generally you should not use these for backend. For example if you want to edit a single field value you can't as you'll get validation issues or conditioned fields.

I did not understood your point that admin will get errors for validation. Do auto action triggers get fired when admin makes change in user profile ?

I am just thinking if admin is entering partial data and not entering mandatory data, isn't that incorrect ? I mean validation error is not thrown to admin on saving partial data but that partial data can break the system somewhere else as that is not adhering to business rules.

For example I have conditional field "identification proof available", if user selects it as Yes then a conditional mandatory field comes up which ask for id proof id (passport number or driving license). now if admin has marked "yes" against "identification proof available" but did not entered passport number/driving license then it can fail any of dependent process which we run over this conditional mandatory field. I am not sure whether auto actions run on profile update through backend by admin.

I have made the config change as you said and I can see the validation and tab being displayed. However tab are not hidden but blank if they are conditional. Not an issue with this.


I understood your point that validations will not allow admin to make any data correction if data is not satisfying validation. That is Admin will not have option to quick fix any correction to data if he does not have mandatory information. Thats fine for me.
