[SOLVED] CB Privacy Question was created by pipermac
I have discovered that CB Privacy should do what I was requesting in another Thread but now I am trying to understand some things about the Plugin.

when you go to the Plugin Management there are two buttons, one for "Privacy" and One for "Closed" What are these? what function to they serve?

I see that we can force privacy settings on certain fields but there are also privacy settings that a user can specify for their profile. Which takes precedent? If a User sets his profile to Private will that override any forced settings on fields?

Also can we remove the ability for a user to set their own privacy settings? so that they don't even get the options to set them?

I also noticed that in the profile the users now have the option to disable or Delete their account. Can these option be removed?

thanks

Privacy is user privacy rows stored in database and Closed is deleted/disabled accounts log.

Management.

You can't force privacy and allow user privacy controls at the same time. It's an either/or situation. Profile privacy only controls users ability to access the profile of the user. It by default does not protect any fields. When it does protect fields the most strict privacy is always used.

Also can we remove the ability for a user to set their own privacy settings? so that they don't even get the options to set them?

Yes, use the forced privacy controls setting then set the Default to whatever privacy rule you want to force.

I also noticed that in the profile the users now have the option to disable or Delete their account. Can these option be removed?

Yes, disable the fields within CB > Field Management.

ok...I think I got it. Wil let you know if i have any more questions!

you guys could really use a roadmap! A basic list of items/features and what component/Plugin will give you that functionality.

the toughest thing i have experienced with CB is simply trying to find out where and how to configure /enable features and functionality. :)

Is there any way with CB Privacy to force different privacy settings for a different group of users?

so Users in Group1 get one set of privacy settings for a specific field and group2 gets a different set of privacy settings?

No, not with manually setting up the privacy rules for each user. You could do this with CB Auto Actions, but it's going to be a nightmare trying to maintain it as you'd be creating a privacy row for each user based off their usergroup.
