In 3.x I could set required, in 4.x I cant see it. Where is it now? My entire form is screwed up. That CB 2.0 update is a nightmare.

It's not missing. It was removed entirely. It barely functioned in previous releases and kept breaking things. So it has been removed as it could not be stabilized. This was noted on the forge for nearly a month. It may return in a later release, but that's unlikely.

Sorry, it was leave it in and let it riddle CB Conditional and CB with bugs due to it or remove it.

It could not be implemented in a generalized manner. It needed to function with jQuery and PHP side validations. It needed to function with jQuery rebinding for jQuery based fieldtypes (e.g. a date field for example). It needed to handle icon display toggling. That's just the short list of complications of its implementation.

All those variables combined just generated more bugs than what it was worth. There also isn't enough triggers to properly toggle the required state and it was constantly conflicting (e.g. you'd save profile edit thinking it wasn't required, but something would reload the field object and it's back to required).

Attempting to re-implement in a stable manner would've at minimum doubled the upgrade time and the end result would've probably been the same (to remove it).

I try to keep everyone informed of what's going on, especially major changes like this, through our forge projects. If something is being removed it'll be noted as a ticket on forge so you can prepare for its removal. I always try to keep tickets for anything major (minor internal optimizations I sometimes forget tickets for).
