[SOLVED] How to force users to password update ?

Hi,

I have a pre-populated db of users with generic passwords. I would like that on their first log in, they are obliged to update their password. Is there a solution in CB that can make that work ?

I have CB 1.9 quickstart package and addons.

We've no plugin to do this. Best I can suggest is just don't give them the password and tell them to use Forgot Login first. Alternatively use a password generator to generate them a pretty decent secure password that they can choose to keep or change through profile edit.

Yes it's a good way but my problem is I don't have all email adresses and they need to log in to their profil to update it as well ! It's a difficult case.

One question : as I told you profiles are not all updated : emails missing, not firstnames... On their first login, if the profile is not completed or with no valid adress, will they get a message telling them to go to fullfill ? Is there a way to configure CB so that if password is not updated to a strong one or if email is not valid, user has to go to update ?

Nope, but you can set the first login redirect in CB > Configuration > Registration to send them to profile edit using the below.

index.php?option=com_comprofiler&view=userdetails

Nope.

I'm not sure what to advise, sorry. We have no feature to force a password update. I suppose you could put something together using CB Auto Actions. If you don't have the users email I'm at a loss as to how you're getting them their passwords to begin with as sending them an email with their newly generated password or letting them use forgot login would be the ideal approach.
