How to print labels? was created by donkey12
Hi there,

We use the contact details of our members to print labels weekly.
It is time consuming to copy and paste the data from CB back-end to Word labels.
Is there a CB extension available or a way to automatically export users' addresses to Word?

CB Juice is one plugin with which you can export CB user information. As far as I have read you can export users as CSV, with which you might be able to select the necessary data after opening it with Excel or Word.

Easiest approach is probably to format a query to export the data you're wanting. You can even use SQL functions to format it using CONCATs. You'd then use the query in phpmyadmin and export to whatever format you're wanting. For example you can export the results to CSV, load it into excel (or libreoffice if you want a free opensource spreadsheet solution), and print it as needed. phpmyadmin can also export as text, word document, xml, pdf, etc..

Thanks for the hints ... easy to do for you ... B)

Not for people who have limited knowledge of MySQL queries (and I suspect many of the CB endusers fall into that category), this is true all the more, as the data is in at least two tables.

Lange Rede, kurzer Sinn ;-)

It may be worthwhile to offer some kind of Export function in a future release - and/or - perhaps a list function that allows colum printing (I don't mean the colums of the lists, but columns as in printing labels)

Thanks

Both import and export functionality is planned in a later CB release as we'd like to add it to CBs core XML engine to allow any backend table display to have export/import functionality.

As I am not proficient enough with MySQL and could not wait for new developments from Joomlapolis, but needed to solve the problem NOW, I looked around for alternatives.

On extensions.joomla.org I found a very handy tool "Export Users from Community Builder" by Ukr Solution which allows easy exports of CB data as csv or xlsx.

You can select which fields to export, create, save and later edit "profiles" of what you want to export. Filtering is limited to user groups. You can also rearrange columns by drag & drop. Easy to use. Not perfect, but solved my problem for 20,00 EUR. Worth looking into - if you are limited like me. B)
