Depends on what you mean by Groups. CB GroupJive provides community groups. Groups like you'd find on social sites like Facebook.
What heyai mentioned is Usergroups, which are nothing liek CB GroupJive groups. Usergroups are for access purposes only. They provide no community features of any sort. With that said you can create a dozen or so usergroups as needed, then view access levels for them, then create Kunena forum categories that use those view access levels, and finally add those usergroups to your users as needed, but this is basically an all admin management task.
CB GroupJive allows users to create their own groups and/or categories that other users can join and interact with one another. The forum creation, as long as the GJ Forum integration is installed, is done automatically and private to each group. As you're on CB 2.x there may or may not be some issues though as GJ has not been upgraded for CB 2.x, but you will at the minimum need the below fixed GJ Events integration if you intend on using GJ Events. GJ Groups do not control access like Usergroups do.
It has been a big issue with GJ Groups and Usergroups being confused with one another. So much so after the GJ upgrade I am considering a name change to CB Communities for example.
