I've got an unusual case that I am trying to figure out.
I have created a group to serve as a Moderator only for the purpose of editing user profiles (following tutorial video #26) via the CB > User Manager > Configuration. I discovered if I add a user to this group, they can successfully edit the profiles of users belonging to parent groups. This is just what I needed.
Unfortunately, what I also discovered is this allows these moderators to view previously hidden Kunena forum categories. These forums should be protected from viewing based on belonging to a GroupJive group.
So a newly assigned profile moderator becomes exempt from viewing restrictions in the forums.
Is there a way to assign a user to be Profile Moderator, but still keep the Forum permissions in force?
CB Moderators can access all CB GroupJive content for moderator purposes. CB Moderators have significantly more power than just editing users. I recommend being careful with who you make a CB Moderator. There is no way to turn this off as it's built into GJ to provide this behavior otherwise moderators could not manage GJ. CB does not have profile only moderators.
