You don't have to use the CB Menu. You can unpublish the Menu tab in CB > Tab Management then use Joomla menu links for example to link to profile. A few likes that are dynamic will be an issue though like the request connection menu link. As for customizing the CB Menu it self it's completely styleable using CSS and you can add new menu items to it using CB Auto Actions and its CB Menu action.
