How do you ask to join a GJ group was created by konp
I'm a bit embarassed, because everybody else's question's are more sophisticated than mine, but I can't seem to solve the problem so...

How can I attach a 'request to join a group' option (button?/tab?) to the GJ tab in the profile. Or how do members request to join groups?

I can see at the backend, if I click the GJ menu button that I get a list of menus one of which is 'join a group', but I can't find how to attach this to anything, let alone a user profile.

If someone can either explain or point me to documentation I would be very grateful.

You need to navigate to the GJ then under the Invites tab you can invite users to join the group. There's currently no other way to invite someone to a group. For a user to join a group they need to navigate to it and click the Join button on frontend.

We won't have any new documentation for GJ until the upgrade is completed so for now there's mostly just old information like the following videos that might still be of help.

Sorry not to reply earlier. I do this part time, so have little bursts of activity with gaps. Anyway, I found the 'join' button for groups. Thanks for explaining that.

But if I click on the GJ menu at the backend and select menus, I get a list of menus. What does this do? How can I access those menus? There isn't any entry in the joomla menus where I can attach anything from GJ to a joomla menu at all and certainly none of the items listed in the backend GJ menus screen.

Select the checkbox for the menu item you want to generate. Once done click "Create" toolbar button. This will force an Internal Joomla menu item into Joomlas database. Once I've upgraded GJ for CB 2.x this won't be necessary anymore though and you'll be able to create menu items to GJs plugin page from the Joomla menu type Community Builder > Plugin.
