Question about CB email functions

Question about CB email functions was created by MAYASIMA
I just have a quick question if CB uses the Joomla API to send emails?

No, we've our own API. Our mailer library is more up to date than Joomlas. More specifically we use github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/ . With CB 2.0.8 we've updated to the latest master as well.

What specifically are you trying to do? Send an email from PHP using CBs API?

I was thinking about an AcyMailing plugin to override CB mail. Just like their existing plugin that overrides joomla mail.

I doubt you'll be able to do this from a plugin. You'd probably need to replace the library entirely with a compatible library. I don't see why you'd even need or want to do this though. We've also the below triggers available that are triggered early in the mailer process.

onBeforeCreateMailer
onAfterCreateMailer

Those can be used to modify the mailer object. It's passed by reference so I suppose you could replace the object, but if it's not a compatible object it'll just break the mailer.

onBeforeSendMail
onAfterSendMail

The above can be used to replace the various information of the email (e.g. subject, body, email addresses, etc...).
