Hello Kyle,

Thanks for getting me the info! In regards to why, just to name a few:
  • The main reason is that the mailing system in CB is limited
  • Cannot view status of mails that were sent
  • No template abilities
  • No statistics
I also asked the question in relationship to future SMS functionality (I was going to ask about that in a separate post, if this is something CB is considering). CB doesn't have that ability right now and I am investigating both issues to maybe see if it makes sense that someone writes a solution to integrate AcyMailing and AcySMS a bit better with CB then what is available now.

A future plugin called CB Notifications is planned. Its purpose will be to replace CBs current notification API (that sends PM or Email). It'll keep a full history (emails and PMs) with email resend capability, email templates, and a lot more features. I've no idea when I'll get around to developing it though. For the time being you may want to use AcyMailing and CB Auto Actions to push mailers to AcyMailing based off the trigger fired. You're wanting a very advanced notifications system that we just do not provide at this time (and not many have needed or requested) so we can't justify making it a top priority right now, but improvements are planned regardless.

A bit more on CB Notifications is it's meant to provide Email, PM, on-site, and possible SMS notifications. Batching email support, email digest support, full PMS built into it, on-site notifications like you see on Facebook, and will also be looking into pushing SMS notifications (no guarantee on that one).

That sounds excellent! Just a suggestion for when the day comes you can spend time on this, add the best possible security/encryption to your PM. We have a real demand for that. A lot of companies and individuals have become very concerned with this issue.

Thanks,

Sima

We've also the below triggers available that are triggered early in the mailer process.

onBeforeCreateMailer
onAfterCreateMailer

Those can be used to modify the mailer object. It's passed by reference so I suppose you could replace the object, but if it's not a compatible object it'll just break the mailer.

onBeforeSendMail
onAfterSendMail

Where can I find these triggers?
