I'm quite happy with the possibilities of CB so far. But I'm running against a wall in finding a solution for a communicating platform with my users.

I would like to:
- post a message on a "wall" including pictures and videos so my users can read this and react if they want (like Facebook does). They automatically get a mail when someone posts (if they want to).
- Plan an event where users can attend to.

I've installed and tried Kunena, GroupJive, CB Profilebook and also CB Activity but must say that styling is quite poor and unfunctional so far. Is this really so or am I just not doing it the right way?

I saw that Jomsocial 4 has nice capabilities but also read they have lot of bugs, bad support and you need to pay for lots of add-ons.

I would be really happy to stay with CB (not to mention all the effort I've done so far) but don't know what to do right now. Is there anybody with a nice CB example of communicating with users?

Hope someone has a good tip for me?

Thanks so far!

Sounds like CB Activity 3.0.0 is what you're needing. RC1 is currently released with status posting, commenting, and actions (e.g. feeling, reading, watching). RC2 will introduce tagging an links in status posts. RC3 will introduce locations added to status posts. See the below for announcement and progress updates.

If you don't like the way it looks then restyle it to fit your needs. The frontend is entirely template driven so the HTML and CSS can all be changed. Only the basic structure needs to be maintained for the jQuery to function (specifically the streamXYZ classes).

It won't have any events features until CB Events has been developed, but I've no idea when I'll get around to creating such plugin. You can't upload directly from the stream either as that's a feature CB Gallery will eventually provide. Once RC2 is released you'll be able to link to websites, images, videos, etc.. through.
