Profile Book/Wall - User Email Notification

Hello, it would be great if you could help.

The initial question is simply - when an Admin would insert an entry to either Profile Book or Profile Wall how would I turn off the email notification to the registered user?


Notes: I have been playing around with the two mentioned above and CB activity. I want to registered user to have an area where he/she can post stuff and admin can reply - both getting notifications.
BUT
I also want a facility where only Special users can access and it is an opportunity to write notes on the registered users profile that only Special users can edit and access (no notifications to user)

My choice: CB Activity and
Profile Book (based on what Krileon said below in a post)

I can't find any settings for what I want. Do you think the choices above are most suitable?

I read this from Krileon: ProfileBook ProfileWall tab isn't an email unless you have notifications enabled, but it shouldn't notify you about your own posts. You can post on your own Wall. If you want only users to be able to post and not a users self you should use the ProfileBook tab.

We don't have any plugins to provide what you're asking. All of our plugins are designed to extend and facilitate the usability of a users own profile. None are designed for moderators to just leave notes for users. Neither the plugins you're trying to use for this are designed for such a scenario so trying to force it is going to result in weird usability.

I'm not sure why the messages between admin and user need to be public though and suggest just using UddeIM to send private messages to the user. You could then use CB Query Field to pull and display those private messages on profile as a field if you want them public (maybe one of UddeIMs CB plugins will even allow this?).

I'm sorry, I should have briefly mentioned how I'm using the whole thing.

It is basically for interaction between Admin/Moderators and Users. Not for Users interacting with Users!They do a basic registration, then complete various fields (complete registration) and upload documents. That's it so far anyway.

It's working well so far only for this issue. Not sure what to do now. Would be perfect for me if I could cancel the notification emails to the User for Profile Book or Wall. I dunno, if you have any other ideas please let me know.

I have UddeIm installed with the extra bits they provide also - working great. I use it as the internal messaging system, so needs to be private to the User.

Would it be possible to use CB Activity for this purpose? or is it possible to turn off User notifications when Admin posts on their Activity Feed.

Well the notification is controlled by the "Notify Me" CB field for CB Profile Book. Best I can suggest is edit cb.profilerbook.php and find all "notifyme" usages and force their variable values to false so it won't send notifications.

Right, I seem to have worked around it.

With the Activity settings I have Admins can post on Users activity streams and Users do not get emails. This is actually handy as it's like all Admins, Moderators, Managers can see each others activity or they post their activity or can post for someone to do something always linked to a User profile - so it is aptly named!Special Users can also comment on a post, even from their own profile.

The Write on Wall selection part of the Profile Wall is not pretty though, and confusing for a Joe Soap User. I may have to ask about this later on if I don't find anything on the forums, articles.
